I read this article with regards to myself and your questions regarding one’s birth story particularly struck me too. I have a 17 year old daughter, adopted from an orphanage in Eastern Europe at the age two. Her mother gave birth and just left her. I am grappling with a whole host of issues with regards to her significant birth trauma, so much so I have not been looking at my own. We have been experiencing a lot of financial crises in the past couple of years and I fear the impact on her has made her even more insecure. Obviously, we must attend to our own issues and fix them. We want to protect our children but forget there is a child within ourselves who has never resolved her own issues, especially around deserving abundance, prosperity and love. I can see this so clearly in my lovely daughter, she is everything I would have wanted to be when I was her age and yet she doesn’t see it at all. Most of all I see, daily, that she never feels deserving of anything good. When she receives goodness, she can’t hold onto it. Perhaps, this can be said for all of us who don’t feel we really deserve all the goodness the Universe has to offer us. I love the line from the movie Mame, where she says something like this, “Life is a banquet, but most people are like beggars starving to death” Thanks for this insightful article…look forward to more.
